January Activities

In the framework of our project, a special webinar on "Using technology in mathematics education" was held on 03.01.2023. We would like to thank Asst.Prof. Dr. HilalYildiz from Kafkas University Dede Korkut Education Faculty Mathematics and Science Education for her wonderful presentation. She explained to us how digital tools can be used in teaching various mathematical topics. She also introduced Geogebra, a web 2.0 tool related to mathematics that is very useful in the teaching process. Her contribution is invaluable!

On 09.01.2023 the first meeting of our students took place and they were really excited to meet students and teachers from the other countries of our programme. It was a very great experience. We are looking forward to the next meeting!!!!

This month's theme was "Measurements". The students really enjoyed the first activity of the month called "Taking measurements". First they measured with non-standard units (our hands, pegs, paperclips, coloured pens and pencils etc.) and then measured the same objects again, this time using a ruler and tape measure. They compared the results and then we talked about how we measure area, mass and liquids. We reinforced the activity using Web 2.0 tools and games!!!

For the second activity, after a brief discussion with the students about standard and non-standard units of measurement, they were given instructions to make a cake (or cupcake, cookies, etc.) with a family member, their mother, father or grandmother. They were excited and loved the process,as they were responsible for all the measurements for their project!!!!

In addition, our students completed a joint activity for the January team project by colouring several and different pieces of a poster with our logo. You can see the poster completed!!!

Finally, in the monthly meeting of the teachers, on 24.01.2023, we discussed the thematic activities for January and planned the activities for the next month. We described ourselves in one word on Menti.com and we made an introduction to the digital tool "Kahoot" by playing a game with questions about our work.
